Health & Wellness

Welcome to Self Health & Wellness! I’m Brigit; Mum to Harper & Matilda, Wife to Beau, Women’s Health Nutritionist and Founder of Self; so yes, can confirm that the juggle is real!

I get that life is messy and at times chaotic. We are busier than ever and many of us wear lots of different hats. I believe that in order to be the best mother or partner, daughter or friend, employer or employee, it first starts with us, with our-self.

It’s true what they say; you really can’t pour from an empty cup. I learnt this first hand after giving birth to my daughter in July 2020. Deep in the newborn bubble, learning the ropes of motherhood, recovering from birth, mid-pandemic, with very little support around me, my health was a long way down the list. I became aware of this pretty quickly, however had already started experiencing nutritional depletion, anxiousness and low milk supply, as a result.

It has since become my mission to support women throughout their own health journey because honestly, prioritising our health has never been so important. I’m here to remove the pressure to be perfect and to make your life easier; offering tailored nutritional and lifestyle advice that is not only simple but really achievable.

I can’t wait to meet you and begin this health journey with you!

Why see a Women’s Health Nutritionist?

Women are such complex creatures. When our body systems are out of balance or in a state of dis-ease, symptoms can arise. My job is to get to the root cause of your symptoms, to find the underlying drivers of dis-ease, and to formulate a personalised treatment plan just for you.

Acknowledging the profound role that food and nutrition play in our health picture is critical to understanding how nutrients can best support us. You’d be amazed at how subtle tweaks and substitutions in our diet can make a huge difference in our overall quality of life and symptom picture. The same can be said for lifestyle changes.

I have a huge passion for supporting women through pre-conception, pregnancy and postpartum stages, as I don’t think enough importance is placed on these huge life stages, from both a nutritional and lifestyle perspective.

However, as a Women’s Health Nutritionist, I can offer nutritional support for a diverse range of health concerns and symptom pictures, some of which include:

Poor appetite, low energy and mood, low libido, poor sleep, digestive complaints, irregular bowel movements, weight fluctuations, hormonal imbalances, feelings of anxiousness, post-pill acne, irregular cycles, painful cycles, PMS, endometriosis, PCOS, preconception care, pregnancy support, birth prep, post-natal prep, the fourth trimester and post-natal nutrition, peri-menopause, menopause and much, much more.
